ITEX 2017: NEW PERSPECTIVES AND FRESH VISION

ITEX is the industry’s largest event for business solutions providers including IT VARS, Imaging VARS, Copier/Printer dealers, Mailing Systems & Telephony providers. Essentially, ITEX is all about helping independent office technology dealers build their brand and set up their businesses for sustainable success in the future. Steve and Andrew have represented S.E. Rentals at ITEX previously and I look forward to my first experience of the show this year.
Openness to new perspectives
The benefit I see of attending ITEX is that it promotes change – conversing with counterparts from a different region and business environment is a great way to challenge the way I see and understand the direction of the industry.
I am most looking forward to the ‘Transform with MPS’ and ‘Dealer Success Story: Expanding Your Portfolio’ sessions. I think these will provide great insight and information to share with our dealer partners in Australia, not necessarily as the ‘holy grail’ or ‘magic solution’ but merely for a broader/different perspective and something that can be utilised as a guide to a robust business model in ever-changing times.
A scale of extremes
Currently the solution scene in Australia appears to be a scale of extremes, with many customers being catered for via a box only solution, and very few organisations playing in the upper echelon of total solutions across a number of platforms and integrated assets, leaving a significant void in between.
The challenge around developing this “Total Solution” is not a new topic, however we are now starting to have more conversations than ever with our vendor partners around the effect of these variable solution (minimal hardware, large software & professional service component) deal structures.
As a result, we’re receiving more questions from our vendor partners on why and how best to engineer these deals to cater for their client needs.
From a professional development perspective, ITEX will provide increased knowledge and even a revision of fundamentals of daily elements of our business. It will also provide a fresh vision on how these current and new elements can be applied to streamline transactions and increase customer loyalty.
I’m excited to see and learn more about what we don’t know.
